"Here's some in your lack of eye"

Films: Riddick (2013)

Alias: None

Type: Alien

Location: Desert

Height/Weight: That of small cars.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: The man, the myth, the legend is back. The enigmatic human with special powers leaving a trail of carnage and revenge across the galaxy has returned after getting in over his head with engagements that didn't have to do with being chased by nocturnal monsters. Now, he's stuck on yet another desolate planet that may not be as totally unforgiving, but still has plenty to give him the business.

History: Following his betrayal in the previous film, Riddick finds himself stranded on a desolate world full of predators out to get him. While he's able to tame the one that looks almost identical to an Earth hyena, there is a specific breed that gives him trouble. These poisonous pests are known as the Mud Demons, named such because they lurk in the putrid muddy waters scattered around the planet. And what's worse is that not only are a bunch of bounty hunters coming after Riddick's head for various reasons (one of them is the father of one of the eviler guys there at the Bioraptor incident), but there's a storm coming that will turn this planet into a Mud Demon feeding ground.

Notable Kills: None.

Final Fate: The storm arrives, and Riddick finds himself facing a whole army's worth of Mud Demons on a mountain. As they all ascend and the alien predators slowly get the upper hand, said father, having realized how much of an ass his son was, rescues Riddick by blasting away at the pack, sending the rest scattering away. Riddick is thankful, and leaves the planet to tie up other loose ends...

Powers/Abilities: Mud Demons can roll in a wheel-like fashion, and have a scorpion-like stinger to paralyze and/or kill prey.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 4-They may not be nearly as unsightly nor ferocious as the Bioraptors, but the Mud Demons are nonetheless the last thing you want to encounter on a barren planet. Their designs are as alien as their locomotion, and one can only imagine the fear of getting stung and unable to move as those impressive chompers edge slowly towards you. And that's not even getting into when the conditions are right enough for entire packs to go on the warpath.

Trivia: -The Mud Demons bear a striking resemblance to the Xenos from one of Riddick's tie-in video games, "Escape From Butcher Bay".

-Vin Diesel, Riddick's actor, REALLY wanted to make this film. So much so that he axed his own paycheck and even mortgaged his own house. It was...worth it, we guess?
